“DeSoto County Schools Partners with
DAC Fitness (DeSoto Athletic Club) to Offer
Swim Team Opportunities for Students”
Students interested in being a part of a competitive swim team should contact their principal or Jim Ferguson at the Board of Education (662-449-7269) as soon as possible so the district can gauge the students’ interest level.
DeSoto County Schools has partnered with DAC Fitness (DeSoto Athletic Club) at 3146 Goodman Road in Southaven to be able to offer a swim team at each high school.
Information about the Swim Team Program includes the following:
Open to students 15 years-old and older.
Before school and after school program.
Program for both boys and girls.
Program will run from August to October.
Students will have to pass a fitness physical as they are required to do
with any school sport.
Early schools will swim after school.
Late starting schools will swim before school.
Each school participating will have a team coach from DCS.
The coach must be present for students to swim at appointed times.
Students are not to use any other equipment or facilities in the building.
Each student participating must have proof of insurance.
Goal is to have a team for every high school, but if limited interest,
may start with a DeSoto Countywide Team.
The program will comply with the rules and regulations of the
Mississippi High School Activities Association.
“DAC Fitness is so generous to offer this opportunity to our students,” said Supt. Milton Kuykendall. “Swimming is one of the best all-around fitness activities for anyone of any age.”
